Constructive dialogue - an accelerator for the SDGs
2030beyond, Constructive Institute
-
Constructive conversation lies at the heart of our democracies. In order to address urgent challenges and deliver on the Decade of Action for the 2030 Agenda, we need a cross-cutting dialogue about the possibilities and challenges of achieving the SDGs thereby ensuring a more equal, just, and green future for all. The relationship between the political world and the press is indispensable in shaping that conversation. With media focused on sensational news and conflicts, politicians are rewarded for attacking their opponents rather than striving for bipartisan action.
‘Constructive journalism’ is a movement working to change the global news culture. Can political actors learn from this movement to change the political culture to focus less on negative campaigning and more on delivering long term solutions, more on allowing space for nuances and doubts, and less on short-term political gains. Join our global thought leaders on this critical topic for achieving transformative change.
