Can one be manipulated to believe that war is OK?

International Media Support Ukrainian-Danish Youth House

Debat - Kultur, medier og idræt - EU og udenrigspolitik

We focus on manipulation and informational warfare in this debate. We have invited an expert panel to talk about and enlighten us on issues such as: How can one manipulate whole populations? Why do it? Who does it? We will look at the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the informational war fought alongside it. How has the Russian regime succeeded (if they have) in convincing the Russian population of the necessity and righteousness of their "special operation". Researcher in Russion propaganda, Valentyna Shapovalova, is invited to explore that aspect. But mis- and disinformation is not only a Russian phenomenon, and Head of Communication at International Media Support, Line Grove Hermansen, will draw other historical events into the discussion. Finally, we will include examples from our everyday lives and from small Denmark, so we can learn more about how easy it is to manipulate with people and the public.
