HEPHAESTUS is a European project dedicated to innovative and sustainable solutions for future-proofing arts and crafts, a stronghold industry for Bornholm which has earned the title of World Craft Region. In the project, a “green living lab” will be organized in Bornholm’s arts and crafts ecosystem. This will involve cultural heritage sites, cultural institutions, the public sector, companies and other stakeholders. The objective is to create positive, long-lasting change, equipping the industry to meet future challenges. In this year’s Folkemøde, we will have a conversation about the meaning of traditional arts and crafts, and how we can innovate to promote sustainability in the industry. Aside from this panel discussion, there will be indoor and outdoor exhibitions to inspire dialog and awaken imaginations. The waste management authority BOFA is participant in HEPHAESTUS in collaboration with Maker’s Island, the World Craft Region secretariat at the Regional Municipality of Bornholm.
